Atopic Dermatitis (also called Atopic Eczema or Neurodermatitis) is one of the most common skin diseases worldwide. In western countries, including Germany, it occupies the top position among inflammatory dermatoses. The prevalence has increased two- to threefold in recent decades, affecting 10 % of adults and 25 % of children in industrialised countries.
